Call for Nominations! 

Serving as an elected leader in APA offers a tremendous opportunity to sharpen your skills, expand your networks, and work directly to strengthen the impact of the organization.  The portal for candidate self-nominations will be open through May 30th at https://apa.directnominations.net/, and includes all the groups and positions up for election this year. *Positions will officially take office January 1, 2025.

*These positions are appointed for a two-year term.

APA UT- President (Approximately 4-10 hours per month.)

  1. Preside over the annual Executive Retreat in order to:
    • Develop an annual vision statement and annual goals.
    • Create, update and/ or evaluate chapter’s five year plan. 
    • Compile an annual end-of-year report for distribution to the membership. 
    • Assist treasurer in creating an annual budget. 
    • Outline potential areas of focus for APA UT’s upcoming programs and conferences.
    • These tasks must be completed by the end of the year for incorporation into the chapter work plan.
  2. Submit Chapter Criteria to APA National. 
  3. Schedule monthly chapter and board meetings. Prior to each meeting, request reports from the executive committee and prepare a corresponding agenda. 
  4. Chair monthly board meetings.
  5. Ensure that Executive Board members uphold their chapter commitments and responsibilities.  
  6. Nominate and remove board members and Committee Coordinators, subject to approval by the Executive Board.
  7. Sign contracts for the organization.
  8. Provide input to the Executive Manager on policy and chapter function.
  9. With Executive Board approval, appoint or dismiss the chapter Executive Manager. 
  10. In absence of an Executive Manager, the chapter President and Vice President will share or delegate Executive Manager’s responsibilities. 
  11. Serve as a non-voting ex-officio member of all chapter committees. 
  12. Conduct the annual member’s business meeting. 
  13. Attend and support both APA UT’s Spring and Fall Conferences.
  14. Draft a president’s addresses for the beginning of the year and for both conference programs. 
  15. After the term ends, fulfill the role of Past President for a minimum of one to two years.
  16. Undertake other duties customary to the office.

APA UT-Vice President (Approximately 3-8 hours per month) 

  1. Fulfill the duties of the President in their absence or inability to serve, and act as parliamentarian. 
  2. In the event of the President’s resignation, the Vice President will assume the position for the remainder of the term. 
  3. Support the President in carrying out all duties and obligations. 
  4. Aid the President and Executive Manager in ensuring the effective operation of all board and committee positions.
  5. Assist and oversee, Program and Outreach initiatives, actively participate in related committees, offer support during events, and fill in for the Programs and Outreach chair when needed. 
  6. Attend and support both APA UT’s Spring and Fall Conferences.
  7. In the absence of an Executive Manager, this position shall help the President share or delegate Executive Manager’s responsibilities.
  8. This position should be pursued with an eye towards running for President. 
  9. Undertake other duties customary to the office.
