8:25 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Plenary Session – We are pleased to announce that our plenary sessions on Wednesday morning will focus on growth. As we grow, we continually hear the concern that we “don’t want to become like California”. What does that mean? What are we specifically trying to avoid and how do we plan to do that?
Our distinguished speakers will include a national expert on planning and the economics of growth Arthur C. “Chris” Nelson; William Fulton, former mayor of Ventura, California and Planning Director for the City of San Diego; and Utah leaders on a panel moderated by Doug Wilks, Editor of the Deseret News. Doug will also moderate a second panel of local government leaders who will speak along the same theme.
Noon – 1:15 p.m. – Luncheon speaker(s) focusing on planning ethics and professionalism yet to be named.
1:30 – 4:50 – one hour breakout sessions:
- The Legislature and Housing Affordability – What’s Being Planned for 2023 and Beyond?
- Design and Construction – Housing Innovation
- Home Builders – What are They Thinking Now as They Look to the Future?
- Innovative Financing for Infrastructure – PIP’s and other options.
- Too Much Public “Overparticipation” in Land Use Regulation?
- A Personal Conversation With an Urban Planning Legent – Bill Fulton.
Plus: Our first 200 registrants will receive a complimentary printed copy of the 2022 Edition of the Journal of Comparative Urban Law and Policy – a Festshrift in Honor of Dr. Arthur (Chris) Nelson on the occasion of his 50 years in the Planning Profession and the Academy. Table of Contents Here.
