Position Summary

The Community Planner position leads planning projects throughout the state of Utah in close collaboration with other planners, landscape designers and other professionals in the firm. Working in a collaborative team setting, this position works closely with clients and the public, performing public outreach, leading design exercises, and collecting feedback to provide solutions to our clients and their communities in meaningful and impactful ways.

This position performs design, research, analysis, and writing, for a wide variety of project types including urban design, comprehensive community planning, neighborhood revitalization, corridor redevelopment, downtown plans, and small area plans. A bachelor’s degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Real Estate, or closely related field is preferred.

The Community Planner is responsible for preparing visually engaging graphics and materials for meetings and events. This position plays a key role in organizing and participating in public events and client meetings and developing narratives supporting planning documents and materials. This role assists on marketing proposal preparation. An effective Community Planner will have a strong understanding of the city and regional planning with experience in building consensus across diverse stakeholders.

Here is a list of the key skills which we seek for this role:

·        Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, SketchUp, MS Office, and GIS Analysis

·        Demonstrated verbal and written communication

·        Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner

·        Strong understanding of city and regional planning with experience in building consensus across diverse stakeholders

·        Project management experience preferred

·        Self-starter with the ability to work independently, handling multiple tasks and project deadlines preferred

·        AICP Certification or in progress to obtain certification preferred
