Senior Planning and Program Manager

Position Summary: This position coordinates complex regional transportation, housing, land use, and economic development projects and programs throughout Utah, Wasatch, and Summit counties.

Reports to: This position reports to the Director of Regional Planning.

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate coordinates complex and highly impactful regional transportation, housing, land use, and economic development projects in Summit, Wasatch, and Utah Counties. The position acts as project manager and facilitator to build partnerships with local, state, and federal government entities, as well as private investment stakeholders in the housing and transportation sectors, with an emphasis on building community trust. The position is responsible to plan and execute projects on time within budget and within scope, monitoring the expenditure of multi-million dollar budgets. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of project and program management including scoping, scheduling stakeholder engagement, complex technical analysis, and policy development for a broad spectrum of interested parties. The successful applicant is responsible to maintain up-to-date records for all projects and will be required to provide ongoing updates on project progress to the Director of Regional Planning and the Executive Director.

Understanding of current economic development, housing, land use, and transportation issues in the Summit, Wasatch, and Utah County region

Ability to manage and optimize complex budgets
Critical thinking aptitude

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in business, planning, public administration, or related field, AND
Current Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional in Project Management (PPM), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), or similar certification, AND
Ten years of project management experience, OR
An equivalent year for year combination of related education and experience.

Physical Requirements: This position requires sitting at a desk or in meetings for extended periods of time, regularly walk and stand, occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 20 lbs., ability to project a voice for public speaking, occasional attendance at night meetings and irregular working hours, and occasional exposure to high-stress environments.  Regularly drives a motor vehicle within Utah, Wasatch, and Summit counties.
