9-Line Bike Tour

Get out of the conference room and experience planning in action on a guided bike tour of Salt Lake City’s 9-Line Trail and 900 South corridor!

Attendees will learn on the bike about the evolution of the 9-Line Trail and the reconstruction of 900 South, with a particular focus on the 2018–2023 implementation of the trail’s core 3.5-mile segment from 900 West to 1300 East.

Along the way, the tour will explore the many pieces that brought the project to life, including planning dating back to 1992, funding, public and stakeholder engagement, tactical urbanism, public art—including the famous whale—economic development, design, UDOT coordination, construction, landscaping, and ongoing maintenance and operations.

What to Expect

This two-hour session will include approximately 45 minutes of relatively flat, easy bike riding, with e-bikes provided by GREENbike. The remainder of the tour will feature project discussions and stops along the corridor, highlighting some of the 20+ local businesses that have opened on 900 South since implementation of the 9-Line project.

Depending on weather and discussion, the tour will follow either a four- or six-mile route. Optional bites and drinks will follow the tour.

Getting There

Participants are encouraged to use transit or bike to the starting point. FrontRunner riders can arrive at Salt Lake Central Station, approximately one mile from the tour start/end, and bring their own bike. TRAX riders can use the 900 South Station, and Route 9 bus service also provides access to the area.

On-street parking is available along 900 South and Gale Street.

Important: Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable clothing suitable for biking.
