Chad Nielsen is the CEO of MHTN Architects, a Salt Lake City-based architecture and design firm, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. He is an architect and leader in the field of higher education facility design. His firm has led many of the recent design efforts for new buildings on Southern Utah University’s campus, including the new West Business Building, currently in design, the recently completed Bristlecone Hall, the renovation and addition of the Mark & Julie Svoboda Geosciences Building, and the Dixie Leavitt Business Building. Chad adopts a collaborative and inclusive approach with project teams, nurturing consensus among team members, consultants, stakeholders, and agencies.

2024 Spring Conference, May 9, 2024 1:40 pmCollege campuses are said to be ‘a city within a city’ and Southern Utah University is no exception. Join us for a tour of the SUU campus, led by Campus Facilities team members and planners and architects who have been working collaboratively to realize some of the most significant projects on campus. The tour will highlight recent plans for a Campus Master Plan update and recent infrastructure projects on campus in response to significant growth SUU has experienced in the last five years, along with coordination with UDOT and Cedar City to upgrade adjacent facilities to meet the long-term goals of campus. The campus landscape will also be featured throughout the tour, including how the campus is working to respond to House Bill 121, Water Conservation Modifications, while maintaining the sense of place for which the campus has become so well-known
