Emily Hawley

Emily Hawley started her career working in forestry and wildland firefighting. She has a bachelor’s in environmental studies and a master’s in plant pathology. For the last 11 years she worked for the state of Montana in various capacities: rule manager for public drinking water, rule writer & policy expert for waste & remediation division, and as the supervisor for the underground storage tank (UST) section in charge of permitting and compliance for UST owners (primarily gas stations). Currently, she works as the division planner for Utah’s Department of Natural Resources Forestry, Fire & State Lands Division. As the division planner, she enjoys working with various stakeholders on planning strategies to manage, sustain and strengthen Utah’s forests, rangelands, sovereign lands and watersheds for its citizens and visitors.
