This session examines the foundation communities already have in aviation infrastructure—encompassing everything from airports to heliports—and the increasing role they will play as aviation continues to evolve. It highlights the importance of leveraging this foundation, not as an endpoint but as a springboard for innovation and adaptation. As AAM brings aviation matters into more frequent public and planning discourse, learning from existing precedents becomes crucial. This session aims to equip communities with the insights to navigate these changes, fostering a proactive approach to integrating AAM into the fabric of urban planning.
