After a brief COVID-related hiatus, APA Utah invites you to participate in its 2021 Fall Conference at Utah’s newest performing arts venue—Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center.

By combining nationally renowned keynote speakers with presentations on topics such as climate change, transportation, housing, the 2021 Fall Conference matches the most germane and pressing content with Utah’s public and private planners.

All conference sessions qualify for the State of Utah Planning Commissioner Training.

Here is some helpful conference information:

  • You may arrive as early as 8AM.
    • There is plenty of parking on the PAC, Centennial Plaza, and Taylorsville City campus.
    • Please collect your name badge and lanyard at the registration table.
    • There will be a light continental breakfast.
    • The conference begins at 8:30AM.
    • Please no eating in the presentation rooms. Only water is allowed in those rooms.
    • Printed programs will be provided for each registered guest. The full program will also be available online at www.apautah.org for reference.
    • Note, the Main Stage Theatre upper mezzanine is only open during keynote sessions.
    • Sign-up in the front lobby for mobile tours, space is limited.
    • All mobile tours require walking, and most require walking outdoors – please come prepared if you plan to participate. The Jordan River Paddling Tour will be in kayaks, and you may get wet. (Thank you to UTA for providing busses and vans for these tours.)
    • Lunch for both days is provided. Thursday, two food trucks will be outdoors. Friday, there will be one food truck outdoors and box lunches inside the lobby. There is plenty of outdoor seating. Remember, no food is allowed in the presentation rooms.
    • Lunch keynote speakers will present both days from 12:30-1:15PM. Please enjoy your lunch and then join us in the Main Stage Theatre.
    • Handouts and resources provided by presenters will be posted online at www.apautah.org.
    • Citizen Planner training certificates will be available at the registration table and in the Taylorsville Council Chambers (citizen planner track presentation room).
    • There will be hand sanitizing stations throughout the venue, masks are not required but encouraged.
    • All sessions EXCEPT the citizen planner specific training are AICP CM approved.

Description:

The Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center is the newest addition to the Salt Lake County Arts & Culture family of performing arts venues. Located in Taylorsville, the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center bring premiere performance and rehearsal spaces to the middle and southwest section of the valley.

This thoughtfully designed venue includes a 400-seat proscenium theater, a 200-seat studio theater and a fully functional rehearsal space as well as professional theater staff and services. Mid-Valley provides the opportunity for performing organizations to showcase their art in this fast-growing area of Salt Lake County.
