Policy/Legislative
Utah’s planners have experienced a whirlwind of land use and housing legislation in recent years — and it’s not slowing down. Join APA Utah for an afternoon workshop designed to prepare planners, local officials, and allied professionals for what’s coming in the 2026 Legislative Session.
We’ll begin with Wilf Sommerkorn’s “What’s on the Horizon for 2026” presentation — an in-depth look at the trends, proposals, and discussions already shaping Utah’s next session. followed by Jason Boal, APA Utah President, who will share best practices for effectively engaging with legislators and participating in the policy process. This portion will be livestreamed for members statewide.
Following the presentation, in-person attendees will participate in interactive breakout discussions to identify and prioritize the issues APA Utah should champion or monitor in the months ahead.
Your input will help shape the chapter’s legislative priorities and advocacy agenda for 2026.
