Christopher Sands

Chris is a Utah Licensed Landscape Architect and a Certified Planner who serves as Principal and Senior Planner at BIO-WEST, Inc., in Logan, Utah. BIO-WEST is a 50-person, multi- disciplinary environmental consulting firm serving Federal, State, and local government agencies, as well as private companies, since 1976. Chris’ studies and over 35 years of work experience focus on providing context sensitive resource management planning, recreation planning, land-use planning, open space planning, habitat restoration, and site design services. He currently serves as chairman on the Cache Open Space Advisory Committee (2023), member of the Cache County Planning Commission (2007), and member on the Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning (LAEP) Advancement Board (2003) at Utah State University. He previously served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Stokes Nature Center in Logan Canyon from 2003 to 2010 and was a founding member of the Cache County Agricultural Advisory Board (2002 – 2007).

2025 APA UT Spring Conference, May 9, 2025 8:00 am

This mobile tour will highlight Open Space and Agricultural Preservation efforts in the region, showcasing sites with varying approaches to preservation of spaces that offer a regional and community value. Preservation efforts covered will include Purchase of Development Rights (PDR), Conservation Easements and partnerships with private property owners and non-profit organizations to enhance the value of open spaces. The tour will include stops at the historic Elkhorn Ranch, Stokes Nature Center Outdoor Classroom, Morgan Farm, and American West Heritage Center.
