Leon is the Community Planning Manager for Ada County, overseeing both the long-range and current planning divisions. Prior to joining Ada County in 2021, he managed the City of Boise’s affordable housing program, focusing on property acquisitions for Boise’s Housing Land Trust and developing incentives for the creation of additional affordable housing. Prior to this, Leon served as an Assistant, Associate, and Senior Planner for the City of Boise from 2013 to 2020. He began his career in planning as the Planner for Garden City, ID in 2010. Leon also served as the Vice President, President, and Past President of the Idaho Chapter of the APA from 2017 to 2021.

A panel discussion about how public and private sector planners can work better together in the government land use planning process. Get the perspective from the private sector planners on issues and timelines they face when working with local and county governments and planning departments. Get the perspective of the local planners and the difficulties of balancing multiple interests while promoting best planning practices. Hear ideas from panelists and audience about ways to address some of these issues to work towards a good final product and mutual benefit.
