Conner Smith
Conner Smith is an Assistant Planner with Cache County and focuses on current land use planning. Born in Salt Lake City, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of Utah and a Master’s in Environmental Planning from Utah State University. His graduate research focused on community-scale wildfire threat mitigation strategies, community-scale wildfire threat mitigation strategy preferences, and wildfire threat perception.

2025 APA UT Spring Conference, May 7, 2025 2:15 pmAs the threat from wildfire continues to grow, planners must embrace strategies that allow them to be proactive and help mitigate the threat. This session will cover the history of wildfire management strategies, different types of mitigation measures, and what the population of the Wasatch Front prefers. &This research centers on the tension that exists between Utah's rapid growth and the ecological and economic needs of its agricultural sector. It pulls from the lived perspectives of farmers across the watershed in the context of pressure from the Great Salt Lake's desiccation.
