Join us for the 2026 APA Utah Spring Conference, set against the stunning red rock backdrop of Bryce Canyon! This year’s conference will explore planning in Utah’s rural and gateway communities, featuring engaging sessions, networking opportunities, and breathtaking scenery.

This is a presentation and discussion for urban designers about the importance and value of good street design, and their contribution to walkable, livable, and vibrant cities and communities. The program is scheduled for one hour.

Since implementing the BESS moratorium in January 2024, the Department of Resource Management has engaged extensively with stakeholders to create comprehensive regulations for BESS projects in unincorporated Solano County. This effort has been guided by the BESS Technical Working Group, which includes local first responders, industry specialists, and community members, along with consultations from national safety agencies and other jurisdictions experienced with BESS.

Designated in 2008 as one of the “10 Great Public Spaces in America” by APA, the West Side Market stands as Cleveland’s oldest continuously operating public market and a symbol of the city’s immigrant roots, culinary diversity, and community spirit. The session will focus on key aspects of implementation that help communities and firms achieve successful outcomes when seeking professional consultant assistance. Topics will include: the benefits of using a consultant, typical services provided, identifying qualified professionals, preparation, fee structures, advertising, managing responses, conducting interviews, and negotiating agreements.

In 2023 and 2024 APA partnered with NLC to form the National Housing Supply Accelerator, culminating in the release of the Housing Supply Accelerator Playbook. However, as planners we all know that a one size fits all approach often does not work in the real world. States and local governments all have their own histories, cultures, legal precedents, and politics that make them unique. As planners, we need to find unique solutions that will be most effective in the states and local places where we live and work. Since the completion of APA’s national effort, some states have pursued their own state-focused housing supply efforts
