Book Launch and Panel Discussion: The Routledge Handbook of Urban Design Practice
The Routledge Handbook of Urban Design Practice explores how urban design practice
is evolving to address contemporary challenges through collaboration across planning,
architecture, landscape architecture, and other allied professions. This panel discussion
brings together contributors to the book whose work focuses on climate resilience,
public realm design, mobility systems, and culturally responsive placemaking. Topics
include urban forestry and shade equity, emerging transportation technologies, and
infrastructure, and the role of public space and event programming in supporting
community identity and economic vitality. Framed by the book’s broader call to
reimagine urban design as a more adaptive, interdisciplinary, and action-oriented
practice, panelists will discuss how urban design can support healthier, more resilient,
and more inclusive urban futures.
