Rebecca Ward
Rebecca is a land use professional who focuses on long-range planning, implementation of plans through land use code, and annexations, large-scale development, and historic preservation. In 2020, she was part of a team that led community engagement and updates to the Park City outdoor lighting code to reflect dark sky standards. The updated code required retroactive compliance in 2025. To prepare for the 2025 deadline, in 2024, Summit County and Park City planning, sustainability, and communications staff and community stakeholders partnered to build awareness of the dark sky code through a series of community events.

2025 APA UT Spring Conference, May 7, 2025 8:00 pmThis evening tour will showcase shielded and customized light fixtures designed to minimize light pollution on the Utah State University (USU) campus. In partnership with USU's Planning and Sustainability Department, the tour will highlight best practices for night sky-friendly lighting and demonstrate practical applications of these fixtures. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with panel participants from the earlier conference session.
