Listening to Multicultural Communities: The Case for Equity during COVID-19: Equity-centered research highlighting the disparities of Utah’s multicultural communities in navigating through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Summary: This workshop was facilitated in partnership with the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs to provide a real-world, community connection to the intention of listening. Students performed interviews with frontline service providers to help inform reporting and analysis of COVID-19 impacts among multicultural communities in Utah. Their report focuses on the importance of actively listening to communities and grassroots leaders in a crisis and elevates key themes of interviews with frontline service providers who are actively engaged in providing resources to hardest-hit groups. Critically, this qualitative data affirms the need for equity now and into the future.
